Preparing for your colour appointment

Getting the best results from your hair appointment starts with a little preparation.

For balayage and highlights arriving with fresh clean hair makes all the difference. Clean hair allows me to weave more precisely, helping to create a seamless blend.

For permanent tints in this case unwashed hair is actually best. Your natural oils provide a gentle layer of protection for your scalp, which helps minimise any potential irritation during the colouring process.

Alternatively if you have a grey coverage hair spray or powders, a large amount of styling product or you have gone longer than your normal wash day then a gentle shampoo on the day of your new hair colour will be beneficial. Face creams, serums and oils can also place a barrier on the finer hair around the hairline preventing colour from fully processing.

Additionally, some haircare products contain silicones that can coat the hair, hindering the colour from processing fully or in some instances may cause a reaction.

It is helpful to be aware of your haircare choices before a colour service.
